Father John was born in Redwood City, the son of Gladys and Llewellyn Christianson, and raised in the Lutheran faith. After graduating from Homestead High, he attended Colorado State University in Ft Collins to study forestry. From there, he began a 40-year career as an arborist and owner of Christianson Tree Experts, in the Santa Cruz/San Jose area.

Father John married Barbara Huntington of San Francisco in 1973. They have seven children: Tia, William, Hugh, Ned, Helen, †Jonathan and †Michael; and a grandson, Logan. In 1983, the Christianson family converted to Holy Orthodoxy and that same year, Father John was ordained to the diaconate by Metropolitan JOSEPH.

As Deacon John, he served at Ss Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Ben Lomond CA. In 2007.  At age 56 he entered St Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA, preparatory to ordination to the priesthood. He was graduated with an MDiv in 2009 and ordained a priest in 2010. He was assigned as priest of St Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Wasilla AK, and then in June 2012, came to St Timothy to be our pastor.

Father John and Khouria Barbara (who recently retired after 20 years as a pediatric ICU nurse) now live in Fairfield. Father John remains a practicing arborist, 1-2 days a week. He is also an avid cyclist and an adrenaline junkie!

Priest
650-619-1318 (Phone)
fdsorthodox@gmail.com

Father Spyridon Jajeh was raised in the San Francisco area—his parents moved there from Ramallah, Palestine. In his teen years, at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church with Fr. Gregory Ofiesh, he was active with SOYO and as a young acolyte. He and his wife, Jennifer, were married there as well.

He attended the University of the Pacific and graduated with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. Currently he is an adjunct professor at UOP, teaching clinical pharmacology. He is also a Director of Pharmacy at an acute care hospital in Stockton, Board Certified in Clinical Nutrition, and a specialist in Sterile Intravenous Medication preparation. Father Syridon is on the editorial board of a professional pharmacy journal and involved in clinical studies with publication.

Father Spyridon was ordained to the Diaconate in 2001 and to the priesthood in 2011 and served pastorally in various capacities and parishes in the Bay Area. For the last almost two years, he has had the blessing of serving the sisters at the Holy Assumption Monastery in Calistoga.

Father Spyridon and Khouria Jennifer have three children: Christian, who just finished law school and is married to Lauren; Sophia, who works in talent recruiting; and Anthony whoa is studying math at UC Davis.

Father enjoys the great outdoors (camping, fishing, hiking, etc). Vegetable gardening is a passion as well. He tries to keep fit (”trying is the keyword here,” he says), especially with bike riding. Father says ”I am certainly bookish and am always keen on finding a new read and trying to learn a thing or two about the world, people, and our condition."
